Panchayat Season 3′ Review: The TVF series featuring Jitendra Kumar, Neena Gupta, and Raghubir Yadav gains momentum with the impending elections in Phulera. While politics becomes the focal point of the new season, the essence of emotions continues to hold sway, as highlighted in our review.
In Episode Three, when Jagmohan, a resident of Phulera, pleads with Prahlad to intervene in convincing his stubborn grandmother against distancing herself from the family in pursuit of a government-allotted house, Prahlad extends an invitation to her home. Perplexed, she questions his intentions for bringing her there. In response, Prahlad, visibly moved by emotion, expresses, “To show you how it feels to be in an empty house. It’s the most crippling pain, which is unbearable,” urging her not to exchange the invaluable “gold” of her family for mere “bricks and stones.” While the second season garnered praise for its sincere portrayal of grief, ‘Panchayat Season 3’ continues to engross viewers by delving deeper into emotional struggles. Faisal Malik’s portrayal of Prahlad, still grappling with the loss of his son, resonates profoundly. Politics takes center stage in the new season, yet emotions remain at its core.
With burning questions such as ‘Who will be the next Pradhan?’ and ‘What will be the MLA’s next move?’ alongside escalating tensions between Bhushan AKA Banrakas (Durgesh Kumar) and Pradhan Brij Bhushan (Rahgubir Yadav), the third season of the TVF series intensifies both drama and intrigue. The season commences with the arrival of the new Panchayat secretary, Sachiv. Unlike last time, neither Prahlad nor Vikas is there to welcome the new secretary with sweets and water, as they did for Abhishek. As circumstances shift in favor of Pradhan ji, he successfully orchestrates the return of Abhishek Tripathi (Jitendra Kumar) to Phulera. A sudden twist leads to the new secretary’s departure and Abhishek’s reinstatement in Phulera, coinciding with the upcoming Panchayat elections. However, this worsens Phulera’s already strained relations with MLA Chandrakishore Singh (Pankaj Jha). Abhishek finds himself increasingly entangled in Phulera’s political landscape, placing his budding romance with Rinky (Sanvikaa) on the back burner. While their love story takes a secondary role, stolen romantic moments in the Fakauli market offer glimpses of sweetness amid the political turmoil.
Written by Chandan Kumar and directed by Deepak Kumar Mishra, ‘Panchayat Season 3’ retains the show’s signature charm – witty writing, relatable characters, and a heartwarming exploration of rural life. And this time, the inclusion of real-world events, particularly the political climate surrounding elections, adds a new layer of intrigue. Despite remaining faithful to its core, the show’s leisurely pace may prove sluggish for some viewers.
Jitendra Kumar’s Abhishek has evolved. He’s no longer the wide-eyed city boy but showcases a newfound comfort and a sense of belonging in Phulera. We see glimpses of his growth as he grapples with career aspirations and village politics.
Raghubir Yadav, a seasoned actor, once again excels as Pradhan ji. In these three seasons, we have seen him bickering with his friends and family, but it’s his silent reaction to his wife’s harsh words that truly speaks volumes about the depth of his hurt. Nothing over the top required here, Yadav’s subtlety speaks volumes.
Meanwhile, whenever Neena Gupta graces the screen in her crisp cotton sarees, she effortlessly captivates the audience with her presence, with her performance lighting up every scene she inhabits. It was refreshing to see Manju Devi voice her opinions and actively participate in village council meetings. However, we still have the same complaint from the makers – we couldn’t get enough of her on the show. Sanvikaa does justice to her part, as this time Rinky is seen taking the lead in the love story and initiating the romance. Durgesh Kumar as Bhushan and Pankaj Jha as MLA Chandrakishore Singh are impeccable with Sunita Rajwar and Ashok Pathak doing full justice to their characters.
Overall, ‘Panchayat Season 3’ doesn’t disappoint. However, with an interesting ending, Season 3 seems to just serve as a precursor to the fourth season, hinting at even greater drama for audiences to look forward to. The final scene might remind you of the ‘Battle of Baghpat’ but without the Einstein Chacha. (No spoilers here)
For dedicated fans of ‘Panchayat,’ Season 3 is a must-watch, delivering all the charm and depth they’ve come to love from the series.
