Shares of Rail Vikas Nigam Ltd (RVNL) extended their gains for the fifth consecutive session, rising nearly 4 percent on May 18, following the company’s strong quarterly results for the period ending March 2024. The state-run railway company’s net profit increased by 33.2 percent year-over-year to Rs 478.6 crore, supported by robust revenue and operating performance. Revenue from operations for the quarter grew by 17.4 percent YoY to Rs 6,714 crore.
On the operating front, RVNL’s EBITDA for Q4FY24 rose by 21.8 percent YoY to Rs 456.4 crore from Rs 374.6 crore in the same period last year. EBITDA represents earnings before interest, tax, depreciation, and amortization.
EBITDA MARGIN
The EBITDA margin for the reporting quarter was 6.8 percent, up from 6.6 percent in the corresponding period of the previous fiscal year. In 2024 so far, RVNL has rallied around 65 percent, significantly outperforming the benchmark Nifty 50, which has increased by about 3.5 percent during the same period.
